Chen serves as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs to develop new programs, sustain and improve current programs, and assess and revise programs as necessary, with a focus on undergraduate student success. She also coordinates the efforts to implement a first year experience program, Carnegie Engaged Campus Project, campus General Education reform and revision, improved advising, and ease of transfer. The IN LSAMP program at IUSB will benefit tremendously from her rich experiences in university administrative duties.
Dr. Grace Muna
IN LSAMP IUSB Coordinator, Associate Professor of Chemistry
Muna teaches analytical chemistry and introductory general chemistry courses as well as the labs associated with them. She enjoys helping students, especially incoming freshmen to develop a love for science. As an instructor for freshmen classes, she has the opportunity to identify URM students and inform them about the LSAMP program early in their academic journey so that they can engage and benefit from all the activities planned throughout the academic year. Muna will work closely with other STEM faculty to identify potential LSAMP Scholars across STEM disciplines. IUSB has a strong tradition of providing mentoring and rich research opportunities to their undergraduates. Muna delights in having undergraduates conduct research and get hands-on experience in the lab. She believes that engaging in undergraduate research is transformational and highly beneficial to students and is looking forward to seeing many URM research scholars reap the benefits of the research process.
