2021 Research Scholars
Hasan
AL-Robaee
Hasan AL-Robaee was selected as an IN LSAMP Summer Research Scholar in 2021. Currently, he is seeking a Bachelor of Science in biological sciences. He is working with Dr. Tom Clark projecting changes in the societal burden of cancer with the obesity epidemic. Mr. AL-Robaee expects to graduate in 2023 and plans to attend medical school.
Marcus
Bailey
Marcus Bailey was selected as an IN LSAMP Scholar in 2021. Currently, he is seeking a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. As an LSAMP Scholar, Mr. Bailey is working with Dr. Deborah Marr on completing a census of the trees at Bendix Woods Nature Preserve and using the collected data to analyze how forest composition has changed over 50 years. Mr. Bailey is a member of the Honors Leadership Council for the IU South Bend Honors Program, a member of the Botany Club and the Black Student Union. When he graduates, Mr. Bailey plans to attend dental school.
Rose
Inchauregui
Rose Inchauregui was selected as an IN LSAMP Scholar in 2021. Currently, she is seeking a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. As an LSAMP Scholar, she is working with Dr. Deborah Marr. The goal of the research is to collect data in the Bendix Nature Woods Preserve and analyze data to see how the environmental composition has changed over a span of 50 years. Ms. Inchauregui hopes to graduate in 2023 and attend graduate school to purse a PhD in Ecology.
Emily
Barrera
Emily Barrera was selected as an IN LSAMP Summer Research Scholar in 2021. Currently, she is seeking a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. As an LSAMP Scholar, she is working with Dr. Grace Muna in investigating the electroanalytical performance of antimony modified glassy carbon electrode for detecting lead and cadmium in water and soil samples. She is expecting to graduate in 2024 and hopes to pursue a PhD in Biochemistry and hopefully be involved in medical research.
Aurora
Easton
Aurora Easton was selected as an IN LSAMP Summer Research Scholar in 2021. Currently, she is seeking a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences at IU South Bend. Ms. Easton is working with Dr. Tom Clark on projecting changes in societal burden of diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease with rising obesity rates. After she graduates in 2023, she plans to pursue a Doctorate Degree of Dentistry at IUPUI.
Myree
Finley
Myree Finley was selected as an IN LSAMP Summer Research Scholar in 2021. Currently, she is seeking a Bachelor of Science in Biological sciences with a concentration in pre-medicine. This summer she is working with Dr. Kasey Clear in development of a turn on fluorescent sensor for L-DOPA. She hopes to graduate in 2023 and plans to pursue medical school.

Ishimwe
Melyse Ishimwe was selected as an IN LSAMP Summer Research Scholar in 2021. Currently, she is seeking a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences. She is working with Dr. Shahir Rizk on a project to detect the effect of substitution mutations on polymerization of PhuZ protein. She expects to graduate in 2024 and plans to go to physical therapy school.
Salile
Malisita
Salile Malisita was selected as an IN LSAMP Summer Research Scholar in 2021. Currently, he is seeking a BS in Informatics with a focus in New media Arts. Salile is working alongside Dr. Hossein Hakimzadeh in the Informatics department to research and develop an app using React Native platform. He expects to graduate in 2022.
