Iyun Adebowale
IUPUI
Ms. Adebowale was selected as an IN LSAMP Scholar in 2017. Currently, she is seeking a BA in Chemistry. She is a member of the African Student Association, Norman Brown Diversity, and Leadership Program, and President of the MSTC club. She volunteers at the Sydney and Lois Ezkenazi hospital. Her research is in Dr. Manicke's forensics lab. Ms. Adebowale also tutors Chemistry at North Hall. After she graduates, she plans to go to medical school.
Bea Aidoo
IUPUI
Ms. Aidoo was selected as an IN LSAMP Scholar in 2018. Currently, she is seeking a BS in Biology. She works with Dr. Roper's research lab focusing on Down Syndrome. She has also been a Chemistry Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL) leader and tutors general chemistry students at the Chemistry Resource Center. After she graduates, she plans to enter medical school and later specialize in psychiatry.
Kalee Coe-White
IUPUI
Ms. Coe-White was selected as an IN LSAMP Scholar in 2018. Currently, she is seeking a BA in Biotechnology. She is a continuing scholar from Ivy Tech Community College where she graduated with a AS in Biotechnology. Her research experience has been with Dr. White at the Neuroscience Research Center focuses on determining the mechanisms of pain and inflammation. After she graduates, she plans to pursue an MD.
Cheikh Ethfagha
IUPUI
Mr. Ethfagha was selected as an IN LSAMP Summer Research Scholar in 2018. Currently, he is seeking a BA in Biology. He is working in a research lab determining how to modify genes as a part of his research project. Mr. Ethfagha works with a professor in the Chemistry Department as a lab assistant. After he graduates, he plans to pursue medical school to become an oncologist.
Nora Gilliam
IUPUI
Ms. Gilliam was selected as an IN LSAMP Scholar in 2018. Currently, she is seeking a BSPH degree in Epidemiology and a BA degree in Chemistry. She is a chemistry tutor and an LHSI Research Intern assisting Dr. John's translational laboratory. She is involved with an array of organizations: IUPUI Ethics of Global Health Volunteerism Working Group, Interdepartmental Liaison Officer for the IUPUI Native American Student Alliance (NASA) and Norman Brown Diversity and Leadership Scholar. Ms. Gilliam plans to pursue a combined MD/PhD degree and concentrate on Infectious Disease Genomics and Pharmacology.
TyLynn Roberts
IUPUI
Ms. Roberts was selected as an IN LSAMP Summer Research Scholar in 2018. Currently, she is seeking a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She plans to graduate in May of 2019. She is working with Dr. Randall J. Roper researching the cognitive development involved with Down Syndrome, that will help guide ideal times for treatment with pharmaceutical drug to potentially rescue cognitive development in DS mouse models, with the goal of translating these results to individuals with DS. Ms. Roberts is also determining the best amount of protein to use when running Western Blots, an experimental test, for more reliability and sensitivity in her independent research. After she graduates, she plans to pursue a career in a genetics research laboratory in the field of special needs.
Mahussi Fagnon
IUPUI
Ms. Fagnon was selected as an IN LSAMP Scholar in 2018. Currently, she is seeking a BS in Biology, with a minor in Chemistry and Spanish. She is also a IN LSAMP Peer Mentor for chemistry. Her research is in Dr. Alves' lab working with her mentor to build artificial blood clots and analyze clotting parameters to better understand Pulmonary Embolism and the different ways to target and get rid of blood clots. After she graduates, she plans to attend medical school.
Crystal Johnson
IUPUI
Mrs. Johnson was selected as an IN LSAMP Scholar in 2018. Currently, she is seeking a BS degree in Biotechnology with a minor in Chemistry. She is a continuing scholar from Ivy Tech Community College where she graduated with an AS in Biotechnology. She is a research scholar in Dr. A.J. Baucum's lab at IUPUI. As a research scholar she conducts experiments propagating and differentiating STHdh Q7/Q7 and STHdh Q111/Q111 cell lines in the lab. When she graduates, she hopes to work in industry.
Emmanuel Makanjuola
IUPUI
Mr. Makanjuola was selected as an IN LSAMP Scholar in 2017. Currently, he is seeking a BS in Chemistry with minors in Biology and Africana Studies. He is a member of the African Student Association, Norman Brown Diversity and Leadership Scholars Program, Biology Club, Olaniyan Scholars Program, Student Soccer Association, Alpha Lambda Delta/Phi Eta Sigma, Chi Alpha Epsilon, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. He also serves as Public Relations Officer for the Chemistry Club. Mr. Makanjuola is completing an internship as a part of the LHSI program. He is also a Research Assistant for the department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the IU School of Medicine. After graduation he plans to attend medical school.
Carlos Montalvo-Hernandez
IUPUI
Mr. Montalvo-Hernandez was selected as an IN LSAMP Scholar in 2018. Currently, he is seeking a BS in Electrical Engineering Technology. He is working with Dr. Shunning, a statistics professor at IUPUI, to develop a way to modularize and compact the size of pothole "fix" machines. Upon graduation he hopes to begin a career in Electrical Engineering Technology.
Lionnel Nkurunziza
IUPUI
Mr. Nkurunziza was selected as an IN LSAMP Scholar in 2018. He is seeking a BS in Neuroscience with a minor in Psychology. He has worked as a PLTL mentor for Chemistry 105 and will be a tutor for LSAMP at the North Hall Tutoring Center. Mr. Nkurunziza is also a part of IUPUI's Neuroscience Club and African Students Association. He intends to pursue a MS in Neuroscience and potentially go on to professional school after he graduates.
Brooklyn Williams
IUPUI
Ms. Williams was selected as an IN LSAMP Summer Research Scholar in 2018. Currently, she is seeking a BS in Biology. She is working in Dr. Perrin's research lab, to determine how hair cells lead to adult-onset deafness. Ms.Williams also volunteers in the emergency room at IU Methodist Hospital. After she graduates, she plans to pursue a PhD degree at IUPUI.
Pedro Sanchez Cisnero
IUPUI
Mr. Sanchez was selected as an IN LSAMP Scholar in 2018. Currently, he is seeking a BS in Biology. As an LSAMP scholar, he is working with Dr. Minto and Dr. Blacklock in their biochemistry lab at IUPUI modeling plant protein structure. After he graduates, he plans to attend the IU School of Medicine. 
Sinai Valdez
IUPUI
Ms. Valdez was selected as an IN LSAMP Scholar in 2018. Currently, she is seeking a BS in Biology. She is working with Dr. Lilian I. Plotkin studying osteoclast recruitment and apoptosis. Ms. Valdez is also working with gap junctions within osteoclasts and researching the part it plays in cell to cell communication. Ms. Valdez is also working alongside a PhD student in the cell anatomy department who will also overlook her research. After she graduates, she plans to pursue a career at the IU School of Medicine.
