Vote Today! The presentation, “Scientific Journal or Graphic Novel? A Student-Production Featuring LSAMP Research,” is featured August 17 – 24, 2020.
The video looks at how IN LSAMP students at BSU collaborated with graphic art management students to showcase their research in a novel fashion. The project was funded by IN STEM LSAMP, NSF-HRD, 1618-408 and Ball State University Sponsored Projects Administration.
STEM
Diversity and Inclusion Video Exhibition Challenge is an NSF
initiative with a mission to enhance U.S. leadership in STEM by facilitating
partnerships, NSF INCLUDES is sponsoring to the NSF STEM DIVE
(Diversity and Inclusion Video Exhibition) Challenge. Video entries are used to
exhibit how grantees have encouraged and supported diversity and inclusion in
STEM preK-12, higher, and informal education. This challenge is designed to
attract broader interest in STEM and to inform the greater community about best
practices and effective strategies for increasing diversity and inclusion,
partnership and networking strategies, and dissemination approaches for growing
the STEM workforce.
The product of the partnership between the two Ball
State student groups, their faculty advisors, and the Ball State video
production team, broke the traditional confines of a scholarly journal and
yielded a 133-page explanation of the students’ research, their biographies,
and a description of the Indiana LSAMP program—not to mention a plot, a team of
superheroes called The Elements, a villain named Dr. Hazard, and a dramatic
ending! Hopefully, the video will
inspire other LSAMP leaders to connect with creative folks at their
institutions in a way that will promote their programs and creativity and
collaboration.
