STEM Peer Mentoring
Ms. Gabriela Acevedo is a Computer Engineering major and plans to pursue graduate studies once she is finished with her undergrad. She is a member of the Engineering Society and volunteers with the robotics team at her local high school. When she isn't studying or tutoring, she is spending time with her six year old daughter whom she hopes will also pursue a career in science or engineering. Gabriela is looking forward to helping others find a passion for math and science
Mrs. Johnson was selected as an IN LSAMP Scholar in 2018. Currently, she is seeking an Associate of Applied Science degree in Biotechnology. After she graduates she plans to pursue her Bachelors degree in Biotechnology at IUPUI.
Salvador is a sophomore working towards an Associate’s Degree in Science (oriented towards Mechanical Engineering). He was selected as an IN LSAMP Scholar in fall, 2017. After graduation, he will be transferring to a four-year institution to continue his path towards a Bachelors degree . He serves as a Learning Assistant and enjoys tutoring students in Pre-Engineering and STEM courses, as well as working with Professors in the classroom and labs. He is fluent in English and Spanish, enjoys learning new things (especially one’s you can take directly into practice). Salvador’s ultimate goal is to achieve a PhD in Mechanical Engineering so he can serve as a University faculty member. He plans to manage his own research projects, and pass his knowledge to future generations. He is passionate about helping future students achieve their goals.
